Discord

Add your own bot to a Discord server so the agent answers direct messages, @mentions and replies.

Your agent can answer in Discord — great for a product community, a gaming server or customer support on a server you run. Every Discord conversation lands in your Inbox, and your team can reply from there.

  1. 1

    Create the bot

Open the Discord Developer Portal → New Application and give it your brand name (you can add a picture under General Information).

  2. 2

    Turn on Message Content Intent

Open Bot, switch on Message Content Intent under Privileged Gateway Intents and Save. Without it the bot can't read messages.

  3. 3

    Copy the token

On the same page click Reset Token and copy it. Paste it under Channels → Discord → Connect.

  4. 4

    Add it to your server

Click Add to a Discord server, pick the server and Authorize. Done.

What it answers

  • Direct messages to the bot — always.
  • In server channels — when someone @mentions the bot or replies to one of its messages. Switch to Answer everything (Channels → Discord) to answer every message in the channels the bot can see.
  • In a server, each person gets their own conversation, and the bot mentions them in its reply.
  • Pictures people send are understood when Understand images is on.

Discord shows formatting, so answers keep their bold text, lists and links.

Where it answers

The bot only sees channels its role can view. To limit it to a #support channel, give its role access to that channel only (Server Settings → Roles, or the channel's Permissions).

Troubleshooting

  • Status shows an error about Message Content Intent — turn it on (step 2), then click Reconnect on the Channels page.
  • “Discord rejected the bot token” — the token was reset. Copy a new one, disconnect and connect again.
  • The bot is online but silent in a channel — check it can view and send messages in that channel, and that you mentioned it (or switch to Answer everything).
