Actions & automation

Your own API and OpenAPI import

Let the agent call your API: save the connection once, import endpoints from an OpenAPI file or add them by hand.

1. Save the connection

Under Build → Actions → Connections & integrations → Your own API, save the base URL and authentication once:

Auth typeSent as
None—
Bearer tokenAuthorization: Bearer <token>
API-key headerA header you name (default X-API-Key)
API-key queryA query parameter you name (default api_key)
Basic authAuthorization: Basic …

You can add fixed extra headers too. Secrets are stored encrypted.

2. Add endpoints

  • Import OpenAPI — paste your OpenAPI / Swagger file or its URL and choose the endpoints the agent may use. Names, descriptions and parameters come from the file.
  • By hand — under API actions, add a call with a method and a path such as /orders/{order_id}. Describe when the agent should use it and each input it must collect.

3. Fill values safely

PlaceholderFilled from
{order_id} (any input)What the agent collected from the customer
{customer_email}The verified email of the customer — never from what the AI writes
{contact.id}Your user ID of the verified contact
{contact.email}, {contact.name}, {contact.phone}The verified contact record
{contact.plan} (any attribute)A custom attribute of the verified contact

Contact placeholders work in the URL and headers and are empty for unverified customers. See Contacts.

4. Choose the safety rules

Set who may use it, confirmation, approval, kept fields and run limits — see Actions overview. Then click Test.

Return small JSON. Use Keep only these fields (e.g. status, eta, tracking.url) so the agent sees only what matters — answers get faster and cheaper.
